PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT

Serengeti Safari Marathon – Cancellation of 2025 Event and New Date

The Serengeti Safari Marathon Committee informs the public that the 2025 marathon, scheduled for Saturday 15 November and later rescheduled to Saturday 29 November 2025, was cancelled due to the government banning all gatherings. These decisions were made by the relevant government authorities in the interest of public safety.

Despite extensive preparations and successful pre-event activities, a final directive issued by the Bunda District Commissioner’s Office on Wednesday 26 November 2025 required the event not to proceed. As a registered sporting organisation, we fully complied with national laws and directives, and this decision was final.

We sincerely apologize to all runners, partners, sponsors, and supporters affected by these cancellations. The cancellations were solely for safety reasons and not due to the organizers or partners.

New Official Date:
The Serengeti Safari Marathon will now take place on Saturday, 14 November 2026.

All registered 2025 participants will be given options to:

Further details will be communicated through official channels. We thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued trust. We look forward to welcoming you to the Serengeti in 2026.

Our Mission:
Active Responsible Sports Tourism, Sustainable Conservation, and Community Development.

At its core, the Serengeti Safari Marathon is about making a difference. We are not just organizing a race—we are building a platform to support conservation and community development efforts in one of the world’s most ecologically significant regions. A portion of the proceeds from the marathon goes directly to local conservation initiatives, supporting wildlife protection programs, anti-poaching efforts, and sustainable tourism projects in the Serengeti.

By participating in the marathon, runners become champions of conservation. Every kilometer covered helps raise funds to ensure that the Serengeti’s unique biodiversity—from the “Big Five” to the lesser-known species—continues to thrive. It’s a race where athletes aren’t just competing for medals but for the future of the land we run across.
