Participants do not run a marathon to win.

More important for most runners is their personal finish time and their placement within their gender and age.

Mambo, as an international runner that thinks this race is wonderful, and want to see this race succeed with international guests, i would like to make a few suggestions.
The race start is Good, but would appreciate a more timely start, as a delay of more than an hour throws off eating, drinking etc , not to mention waking up at 3:50 instead of 5:00 makes a big difference in sucess.
Really enjoyed the local enthuasiam includng the young man who ran beside me for over 35k barefoot.
Water stations on the way out were great, although more snacks, (watermelon etc) would have been helpful, especially for the slower runners who were on course for over 5 hours.
No water stations from km 26 to the finish was a dangerous situation for me, i cramped up very badly 2 times and was in extreme pain., and almost did not complete. This was the first marathon, and i have ran a lot of marathons around the world, where i felt in danger due to the race organizers running out of water. Tee shirt sizes are very incorrect and ALTHOUGH i signed up months ago, and it stated on the bag it was a small i was given a very large shirt. (I am a petite older female). I will not be able to wear this shirt at home and promote your wonderful race by wearing it because of this. Many marathon runners are small.
Please take these thoughts into considerations in future races.
    Asante sana

First, thank you so much for your thoughtful and constructive feedback. We’re delighted to hear that you had a positive experience at the Serengeti Safari Marathon, and we truly appreciate the suggestions you’ve made to help improve the race for future participants.

We are thrilled that you enjoyed the local enthusiasm and spirit, including the inspiring story of the young man who ran barefoot alongside you! It’s moments like that that make the event so special.

      Regarding the points you’ve raised:

      Race Start Time and Delays
We absolutely understand how delays can affect the overall race experience, particularly for international runners who need to carefully manage their timing for meals, hydration, and rest. We’re actively looking at ways to streamline race day operations to ensure a **timely start** in future editions. This feedback will help us refine our scheduling and ensure a smoother race day for everyone.

      Water Stations and Snacks
We’re glad you found the water stations helpful, but we understand that additional snacks—especially for those running longer times—would be a great benefit. We will certainly consider including more energy-boosting options like watermelon, bananas, and other fruits at key locations along the route. We know that for slower runners, staying hydrated and fueled is especially important, and we’ll work on ensuring a better spread of stations across the course.

Water Shortages Between Km 26 and the Finish
We are deeply sorry that you experienced such discomfort due to the water shortage in the latter part of the race. This is a serious issue, and we completely understand how dangerous it can be for runners, especially in a marathon setting. We will review our **water distribution plan** to ensure that there is consistent access to hydration throughout the entire course, especially for those running longer times. Your experience highlights an important area that needs urgent attention, and we will work hard to avoid this in future races.

      T-shirt Sizes
We sincerely apologize for the issue with the **T-shirt size** and understand how disappointing it can be to receive something that doesn’t fit. We also understand how important it is for you to feel proud of the event you’ve participated in, and we’ll work to ensure that every runner receives gear that is both the correct size and high quality.

We deeply appreciate you taking the time to share these suggestions with us. Your feedback is invaluable as we strive to make the **Serengeti Safari Marathon** an even better experience for runners from around the world. We’re committed to learning from each event and continuously improving for future editions.

Thank you again for your support, and we hope to welcome you back in the future. Asante sana, and best of luck with your running adventures! Next event will be on 15th November 2025.

      Warm regards,
      The Serengeti Safari Marathon Team
